The 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid Limited is a 5-passenger truck-like small SUV, that utilizes gas-electric hybrid engine, and rides on a uni-body construction with relatively high height and seat position. It combines a 155 hp Atkinson cycle I-4 engine with 70kW NiMH powered permanent magnet electric motor, producing net system power of 155 hp @ 6000 rpm and torque of 136 lbs.-ft. @ 4500 rpm. Transmission is an Electronically controlled Continuously Variable (eCVT). Drive train is available in either 4X2 or 4X4. The hybrid engine gives better fuel economy and less emission. Escape hybrid can run on solely electric power up to approximately 25 mph.
