The 2011 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD is a unibody full-size 4X4 SUV with a length of 197.1 inches and a width of 78.9 inches exclude mirror. It is powered by a 283 hp 3.5L V6 TiVCT engine coupled to a 6-speed automatic, with a shifter-mounted +/- toggle switch for manual-style gearshifts. Front short and long arm, and rear multi-link suspension – both independent with anti roll bar – with coil springs and gas pressurized shock absorbers, enhances the Explorer’s carlike driving experience. A speed sensing electric power assisted steering also supports composed driving. Handling is further maximized by features including Advance Trac with Roll Stability Control and Curve control, trailer sway control, hill start assist, and an intelligent 4WD system offering snow, sand, mud and normal modes through a twist of a knob. The Explorer XLT gain standard automatic headlamps, keyless entry keypad, reverse sensing and an alarm system, and 18” wheels.
