2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid The 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is a 5-passenger sedan that gets its power from a full parallel gas-hybrid system.  It’s 40 hp electric motor is lithium polymer battery charged, allowing the car to be driven in zero emission in a fully electric drive mode up to 74 mph.  Transmission uses a traditional six-gear automatic with actual upshifts and downshifts.  EPA estimated fuel efficiency is rated at 37 mpg combined.  The Sonata Hybrid has an aerodynamic body with an enlarged grille and unique headlight of LED running lights around projector beam lenses.   The car uses flaps taht opens and closes behind the grille plus low rolling resistance tires, that contributes to its low drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd.  It employs Motor Driven Power Steering and SACHS Amplitude Selective Damping (ADS) shock absorbers.  The hybrid sedan comes standard with proximity key entry/push-button start, fog lights, automatic headlights, dual automatic climate control, 6-speaker audio, tilt/telescoping steering wheel (with audio, phone, and cruise controls mounted), 4.2” multi-function trip computer, and 8-way power driver seat.
