2011 BMW R 1200 GS Specs, Engine Features, and Overview

The 2011 BMW R 1200 GS is a dual purpose motorcycle for daily commuting or weekend touring on the dirt trail. The two cylinder boxer engine displaces 1170cc and comes with two overhead, chain driven camshafts per cylinder, pushing out 110 hp of maximum output with 88 ft.lbs. of torque. Transmission used is a six-speed transmission with 2.91 final drive ratio and a maintenance free drive shaft. This bike makes throaty boxer sound with electrically controlled exhaust flap and a new rear silencer interior structure. Suspesnsion features front Telelever wit central spring strut and 5-position spring pre-load mechanical adjustment, while the single sided cast aluminum swing arm at the rear gets a WAD strut, hydraulically adjustable spring pre-load at handwheel and rebound damping. The 2011 BMW R 1200 GS is also offered in a Triple Black special edition model sporting a sapphire black metallic body color and dark components.
