2011 Ducati Monster 796 The 2011 Ducati Monster 796 is a mid-range street bike with attitude and sports performance.  It’s got a 803cc 4-valve air-cooled L-Twin engine that employs a 11:1 compression ratio, claiming to produce 87 hp and 58 lb.ft. of torque.  A six speed transmission is used along with a hydraulically operated wet APTC clutch that control power through a chain drive.  The front side suspension uses Showa forks, while the Sachs rear shock is mated to a single sided swingarm and gains adjustable spring preload and rebound damping.  This nimble motorcycle rolls on a Y-spoke cast aluminum wheels with red rim strips on the edge.  Front dual brake discs is clamped by a radial mounted 4-piston calipers while the rear solo disc is clamped by dual-piston caliper.  ABS is available as an option.  Compare to the Monster 1100, seat height is lower (but higher than the 696 model) and tapered aluminum handlebar are higher.  The functional instrument cluster has an easy to read LCD display that is operated through a switch gear on the handlebar.
