2011 Yamaha YZF-R6 Specs, Engine Features, and Overview
The 2011 Yamaha YZF-R6 is a middleweight supersport motorcycle meant to be ridden on the race track or out on the street. Engine is a compact liquid-cooled in-line 4 cylinder 16-valve DOHC that displaces 599 cc and produces a rush of high rpm (with a redline of 16000 rpm) for fast track time. It employs a 6-speed transmission with multiplate slipper clutch. Highlights include YCC-I® technology (Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake) for enhancement of cylinder filling and getting a broader power band. GP inspired Deltabox® aluminum frame contributes to a balance engine positioning and excellent handling. It is joined with a lightweight aluminum "gull wing" type swingarm that uses a mix of castings and pressed plates for optimum rigidity. Front/rear weight balance is marked a good 52.5/47.5 ratio. Front and rear suspension receives adjustable pre-load and rebound damping. Other features include a separate rider and passenger seat, dual “cat eye” headlights, single lens LED taillight, a comprehensive multifunction instrumentation, built in lap timer with handlebar switch, and immobilizer ignition system.
