The 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid gets its power by a 2.5L In-line four cylinder (I4) Atkinson cycle gasoline engine and a NiMH powered electric motored, with a combined 177 horsepower and fuel economy rated at a good 32 mpg combined. Power is sent through a continuously variable transmission that gives smooth transition between gas and electric modes. The Hybrid weights an extra 300 lbs. than the gas engine model, thus making handling less well-performed. Standard equipments include fog lights, integrated driver blind-spot mirror, auto dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, Sync connectivity system, six way power driver seat, leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio and cruise control, MyKey speed limiting technology, and four-speaker stereo. Available options include sunroof, voice operated navigation system with fuel consumption display, and a premium seven speaker audio system.
